Jonathon Bailey – System Administrator

Q: Please tell us about your role at Kosciusko Connect. What does a typical day look like for you?

A: I manage the server infrastructure, IT projects, and anything else IT-related that needs to be done. I usually start my day by checking tickets and alerts to see if there are any issues. Then, after we get those issues resolved, I switch back to projects that are in progress. We work together as a team to resolve problems and work on projects that are in progress.

Q: Could you share some highlights of your educational and/or career journey and what led you to become a part of our team?

A: I received my bachelor’s degree in computer science in 2002 from Lakeland College. I went back to school for another associate degree in Cyber Security in 2019 from Ivy Tech. During my education at Ivy Tech, I achieved 4 CompTIA Certifications, my CCNA, and an AWS Cloud Practitioner certification. I am looking forward to more certifications and pursuing my master’s degree in data science in the next year.

I have worked in IT for over 25 years. I started my career in IT working for a door manufacturing company called JELD-WEN. My first position was in the Helpdesk, and I worked my way into a Business Analyst position. I worked for JELD-WEN for 12 years in Indiana and Oregon. I then moved back to Indiana and worked for Logansport Memorial Hospital as a Telecommunications Coordinator, managing their phone systems, and running network cables. I worked for the hospital for almost three years. I then worked for First Federal Savings Bank as the Network Administrator managing the network and servers. I worked at FFSB for over seven years. I then worked as the Network Administrator at Woodlawn Hospital, managing their network and servers. I worked for them for almost three years.

Q: Kosciusko Connect has rapidly connected over 8,000 subscribers to its fiber internet network since its launch in 2021. What aspects of this growth have been most exciting for you?

A: The day-to-day, as the number increases. I get a little excited when it jumps. I am very happy we can provide excellent internet service to the customers. I can hear the connect team on the phone, and they do an excellent job of treating the customers well.

Q: In your opinion, what sets Kosciusko Connect apart from other internet providers?

A: Dedication of the employees to provide the quick fiber installs and quality customer service the customers are looking for.

Q: Outside of work, what are some of your interests or hobbies? Any fun facts about you that our subscribers might find surprising?

A: I am learning to play the bass guitar. I run races (1 mi, 5K, 10K) most weekends and have completed five this year (I did 37 last year). I am doing my first 10K in March and probably another in the fall. I am working on getting my 5K time below 40 Minutes. I just started running in 2022 year and completed 17 races in 2022. I am looking to do maybe 40 this year. I also like to cook and post recipes on Facebook for my various meals. I work on projects around the house and yard during the summer. I also am a gamer and play World of Warcraft, Diablo, and others.
